       Due to the impact of the epidemic, some students in the second advanced training class for chemical safety interdisciplinary talents were unable to conduct on-site defenses. At 19:00 on February 13, 2020, they experienced a "special" report.

       51 trainees and 18 experts and professors were divided into three defense groups, and two online video conference systems were used to successfully complete the defense. Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering Yang Chaohe, Professor Zhao Chaocheng, and expert Lu Shuai served as the leaders of the three defense teams, respectively. The relevant teachers and technical experts of the School of Chemical Engineering, the School of Mechatronics, the School of Information Control, and the East China Safety, Environmental Protection and Energy Conservation Technology Center of China University of Petroleum served as defense experts.

       The experts first expressed their condolences to the students and hoped that they would continue to learn and improve themselves while doing a good job of protecting themselves! Then, strictly control the practicability of the topic selection, the difficulty of the topic research, the feasibility of the research route, and the rationality of the time arrangement.In response to the deviations in the direction of the students' topic selection, the inappropriate thinking of chemical safety training, the unclear research content and specific problem solving, and the unclear technical route, the trainees combined their actual work and exchanged discussions with experts.

        So far, the 136 students of the second class have all completed six intensive study and the task of opening a topic defense, and have entered the work of writing thesis. The students of the third class are also about to start the fourth intensive learning. We will make full use of the online platform for online learning activities.
